In July 2016, the European Commission found that MAN, Volvo/Renault, Daimler, Iveco and DAF broke EU anti-trust rules. It was determined that these manufacturers had colluded for 14 years on the pricing of medium and large trucks, and passing on the costs of compliance with stricter rules to their customers.

The European Commission imposed a record fine of 2.9 billion on these manufacturers. In addition to this fine, any business or individual affected by anti-competitive behavior may bring the matter before the courts and seek damages independently.
